”If we electrify everything, we don’t just help address the climate crisis, we create a world that is cheaper, cleaner and fairer for every household”
Dr Saul Griffith, Rewiring Australia
Our community group has teamed up with electrification experts Rewiring Australia to try to electrify our community.
We’d love you to get involved. Can you start by completing this short survey?
Electrify everything!
Six things to electrify:
-
Electric Vehicles (EV)
Electric vehicles and bikes give you the freedom to fuel at home at a far cheaper cost than petrol, whilst being quieter, cleaner and healthier to drive.
-
Rooftop solar (PV)
Gain energy independence by producing energy at home with rooftop solar. Solar is cheaper than ever and can provide long term cost savings whilst insulating yourself from future energy price increases.
-
Hot water
Heat pumps draw heat from the air, and can use less than a quarter of the energy of conventional water heaters. When coupled with rooftop solar, you can shower for free!
-
Heating & Cooling
Split system reverse-cycle air conditioners are the most efficient way to heat & cool your home, using just 25-30% of the energy required by conventional gas or electric systems.
-
Cooking
Induction cooking is a cheaper, cleaner and healthier way to cook. By eliminating gas from your kitchen you can reduce the risk of respiratory disease such as asthma for your family.
-
A home battery
Batteries can capture excess solar during the day and use it at night when electricity is more expensive. In certain configurations it can provide backup power against blackouts and disasters and can also be linked to a VPP to maximise your return on investment.

Take Survey
We've created a brief 3 minute survey so we can understand where households are at in their electrification journey and what barriers there are to achieving it.
We will use these to inform our community activities in 2024 to support South Australians in this journey.
